NETO race 16 completed Oct 6 at Lebanon Valley
NETO race 16 was completed Saturday Oct. 6 at Lebanon Valley Dragway. Twenty seven racers competed in the race sponsored by Overbaugh Construction from Norton Hill NY. The race was also the John Parks Memorial in honor of the late crew chief of the NY Twister funny car. Erin and Tom Dewhirst representing Overbaugh trucking presented the trophies.
Additionally this was race one of the weekend 20th anniversary finale. Special today was a special King of the Hill race between the winners of Nostalgia and Comp. For this race, sponsored by Empirical Labs inc. of Lake Hiawatha NJ, a special winner plaque was to be given. The plaque was presented by Lou Tarascio representing Empirical Labs
COMP eliminator was won by Richie Bianco Jr in the Team Bianco small block Ford powered FED. Vinny Lauita Jr was runner up in the Team Laurita BBC 1969 Camaro. Richie wheeled the dragster to a winning 8.399 on a 8.10 index. Vinny was runner up with a break out 8.993 on a 9.00 index.
Nostalgia eliminator was won by current Nostalgia champion, and points leader, Steve Consentino. This was Steve’s fourth win of the year. Former two time Nostalgia champion Roger Wright was runner up. Steve drove his 1962 Dodge wagon, the “Yankee Clipper” to a 10.53 on a 10.52 dial, while Roger drove his 1974 Plymouth Cuda to a 11.06 on a 11.02 dial.
KING OF THE HILL
The King of the Hill race was to be between Comp winner Richie Bianco Jr and Nostalgia winner Steve Consentino. Unfortunately Richie Bianco Jr hurt the motor in the dragster and was unable to run. Steve Consentino became the King of the Hill!
